Police dismantle “Geng Al Alim”, resolving 16 motorcycle-theft cases

KUALA LUMPUR, El Sky News — Police successfully brought down a local motorcycle-theft group known as “Geng Al Alim”, leading to the resolution of 16 cases that had taken place within the jurisdiction of Wangsa Maju district. The arrests were made after a series of targeted operations that culminated in the detention of seven local men, aged between 22 and 34.

The operation, carried out on 23 September, followed investigations into a string of motorcycle thefts believed to have been committed over several months. During the raids, police recovered various items linked to the criminal activities of the group. These included two incomplete motorcycles, two motorcycle frames, various components believed to have been taken from stolen vehicles, as well as clothing worn by the suspects during several theft incidents.

According to police, all seven suspects possess prior criminal records involving theft and drug-related offences. One of the individuals arrested had 18 previous criminal records, including a case involving narcotics. Another suspect was wanted for four separate drug cases, indicating that several members of the group were already known to law enforcement and had an established history of wrongdoing.

Authorities say the dismantling of the group has not only closed 16 cases under the Wangsa Maju district police but has also assisted in linking the suspects to two motorcycle-theft cases in the state of Selangor. The findings strengthen the belief that the group had operated across district boundaries and employed a method of stripping stolen motorcycles for parts before reselling or repurposing them.

Following the arrests, all seven individuals were charged at the Magistrate’s Court in Jalan Duta on 14 October, marking a significant step in curbing vehicle-related crime in the region. The successful handling of the case also demonstrates the police force’s ongoing commitment to tackling organised theft syndicates and reducing property-crime rates.

Law enforcement officials emphasised that investigations will continue to determine whether additional individuals are tied to the group’s operations or if further stolen motorcycles can be traced to the suspects. The case serves as an example of coordinated policing efforts leading to impactful outcomes in addressing recurrent urban crime.
