New Saga for Late 2025: Fourth-Generation Proton Saga to Debut With a Modern, Tougher Look and ADAS!

KUALA LUMPUR, El Sky News – Proton’s best-selling model, the Saga, is set to undergo one of its most comprehensive upgrades yet. According to industry sources, the fourth-generation Proton Saga is expected to make its debut as early as late 2025, promising major improvements in design, safety, and technology.

Since its relaunch in 2019, the Proton Saga has maintained its status as Malaysia’s favourite affordable sedan. However, with competition intensifying—especially from models equipped with more advanced safety features—a significant update has become essential.

More Contemporary and Dynamic Design

The most notable changes are expected in both the exterior and interior. Analysts predict that the new Saga will adopt Proton-Geely’s latest design language.

Exterior Design:
The upcoming model is anticipated to feature a sharper, more contemporary look, resembling a “smaller sibling” to the Proton S70. Expected upgrades include full LED headlamps, a revised Infinity Weave grille, and a more aerodynamic profile.

Interior Space:
The cabin is expected to receive a substantial redesign, with better-quality materials, a larger infotainment display—possibly a stand-alone floating unit—and a completely revamped dashboard for a more premium appearance.

Focus on Safety and ADAS

One of the most anticipated enhancements is the inclusion of advanced safety technologies. To remain competitive in today’s market, Proton is expected to introduce features previously reserved for its C- and D-segment models.

The Fourth-Generation Saga is rumoured to come equipped with upgraded Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including:

  • Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
  • Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB)
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)

This move would position the new Saga on par with—or potentially ahead of—its closest rivals within the same price bracket.

New Engine and Transmission Options

Although Proton has yet to confirm official powertrain details, industry speculation suggests a shift towards more modern engine configurations. Possibilities include:

  • An upgraded 1.5L naturally aspirated engine, or
  • The introduction of mild-hybrid technology to meet stricter emission standards.

Improved performance and greater fuel efficiency are expected to be key priorities.

Staying Competitive as Malaysia’s Beloved ‘People’s Car’

Despite the significant upgrades, Proton is expected to remain cautious with pricing. The goal is to ensure the Fourth-Generation Saga stays firmly in the affordable segment, continuing its appeal as the top choice for first-time buyers and small families in Malaysia.

With its anticipated launch at the end of 2025, Malaysian car enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting this iconic model’s arrival—one that promises a refreshed identity, enhanced safety, and modern technology.
