Man Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison for Attempted Murder of Police Officer

Klang, El Sky News – A 33-year-old man in Klang, Malaysia, has been sentenced to five years in prison and fined RM10,000 after pleading guilty to attempting to murder a police officer. The incident occurred at a petrol station on 12 November 2025, when the suspect allegedly tried to flee from officers and ran over a policeman, dragging him several meters.

The offence falls under Section 307 of the Penal Code, which covers attempted murder and carries a maximum sentence of 20 years’ imprisonment. The court ordered that the prison term start from the suspect’s arrest on 13 November 2025, and stated that failure to pay the fine would result in an additional 12 months of imprisonment.

During the trial, prosecutors emphasized that the suspect’s actions deliberately endangered the life of a public servant performing his duties. The accused requested leniency, citing responsibilities to care for his elderly parents, one of whom suffers from heart problems.

The verdict highlights the seriousness of offences involving violence against law enforcement officers. Authorities have reiterated that such acts will be met with strict legal consequences to protect public safety and uphold the rule of law.
