Red Giants March On: Selangor FC Cruises Into Malaysia Cup Quarter-Finals

PETALING JAYA, El Sky News – Selangor FC has officially punched their ticket to the 2026 Malaysia Cup quarter-finals after a dominant 3-0 victory over Kelantan The Red Warriors (TRW) at the MBPJ Stadium on Friday night. The “Red Giants” advanced with a convincing 5-1 aggregate scoreline.

Having secured a narrow 2-1 lead in the first leg at Kota Bharu, Kim Pan-gon’s men showed no signs of complacency in front of their home crowd. The hosts dictated the tempo from the opening whistle, breaking the deadlock in the 19th minute. Brazilian striker Chrigor Flores Moraes found the back of the net after connecting with a well-timed cross from defender Ahmad Zikri Khalili.

Selangor continued to press their advantage, and their persistence paid off just before the halftime break. National winger Faisal Halim doubled the lead in the 45th minute, calmly finishing a pass from Moraes to put the game effectively out of reach for the visitors.

The second half saw more of the same dominance from the home side. Moraes turned provider-to-scorer once again in the 66th minute, slotting home his second goal of the night to make it 3-0. Despite several late attempts to increase the margin, the score remained unchanged until the final whistle.

With this clinical performance, Selangor FC is set to face the winner of the match between Imigresen FC and Negeri Sembilan FC in the quarter-finals. The emphatic win further cements their status as one of the top contenders for this year’s prestigious trophy.
