Woman Detained After Allegedly Stabbing Elderly Mother with Can Opener in Kuala Pilah

KUALA LUMPUR – Authorities have apprehended a woman in her 50s following a distressing domestic assault in which she allegedly attacked her elderly mother using a common household kitchen tool in Kampung Segineh Inas, Johol.

The incident, which has shocked the quiet community, came to light after the Kuala Pilah District Police Headquarters received an emergency call from a concerned neighbor at approximately 7:08 PM on Friday. The informant reported a heated physical struggle occurring within a private residence in the village.

Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers found the victim, a woman in her 80s, with a puncture wound to her neck. According to Kuala Pilah District Police Chief, Superintendent Muhammad Mustafah Hussin, the initial forensic analysis of the scene indicates that the suspect did not use a conventional knife.

“Early investigations suggest that the suspect utilized a sharp-edged manual can opener to inflict the injury on the victim’s neck,” Superintendent Muhammad Mustafah confirmed in a press statement today.

The elderly victim was immediately evacuated from the home and rushed to Rembau Hospital. While the nature of the injury was serious, medical professionals have since stabilized her. She remains hospitalized under strict observation to monitor for potential complications.

The suspect, identified as the victim’s biological daughter, was detained at the scene without further incident. While a definitive motive has yet to be established, authorities are looking into the suspect’s medical history.

“Preliminary observations lead us to believe the suspect may be suffering from mental health issues, which will be a primary focus of our investigation into why this altercation escalated so violently,” the Superintendent added.

The police have classified the case under Section 326 of the Penal Code, which pertains to voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons. If convicted, the charge carries a penalty of imprisonment for a term which may extend to 20 years, along with a fine or whipping.
