Two Dead, Two Injured in Violent Head-On Collision on Jalan Serkam–Bemban

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 27 – A tragic road accident claimed the lives of two people and left two others hospitalized following a violent head-on collision involving two vehicles yesterday evening near Jasin.

The incident, which occurred at approximately 6:50 PM on Jalan Serkam–Bemban, involved a Perodua Bezza and a Proton Wira. The impact of the crash resulted in the immediate death of one driver and the subsequent passing of an elderly passenger several hours later.

Jasin District Police Chief, Supt Lee Robert, identified the deceased as a 33-year-old male, who was the sole occupant and driver of the Perodua Bezza, and a 74-year-old woman, who was traveling as a passenger in the Proton Wira.

The driver of the Proton Wira, a 44-year-old man, sustained injuries to his arm and body. His brother, aged 40, who was also a passenger in the car, suffered chest injuries. Both remain under medical observation.

Preliminary investigations conducted by the Jasin District Police suggest that the accident was triggered when the Perodua Bezza, traveling from the direction of Bemban toward Serkam, lost control. Upon reaching the site of the incident, the vehicle reportedly skidded and veered into the opposite lane.

The driver of the Proton Wira, who was heading in the opposite direction toward Bemban with his elderly mother and brother, was unable to take evasive action in time to avoid the oncoming car.

“The driver of the Perodua Bezza suffered severe internal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by medical first responders,” Supt Lee Robert stated in a press release today.

Following the collision, emergency services rushed the three occupants of the Proton Wira to Hospital Jasin. The 74-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital’s red zone for critical care. Despite the efforts of the medical team, she was pronounced dead at approximately 9:30 PM last night.

The wreckage of both vehicles has been secured for further technical inspection. Local authorities are currently investigating the case to determine if road conditions or mechanical failure contributed to the vehicle skidding.

Police have urged any witnesses who were in the vicinity of Jalan Serkam–Bemban at the time of the crash to come forward and provide information to assist in the ongoing investigation.
