UAE Airports Begin Limited Commercial Flight Operations Amid Regional Tensions

Kuala Lumpur , El Sky News Airports across the United Arab Emirates have started preparing for a gradual return of limited commercial flight operations following days of disruption caused by escalating regional tensions in the Middle East.

Major aviation hubs including Dubai International Airport, Abu Dhabi International Airport, and Sharjah International Airport are coordinating closely with aviation authorities to resume services in phases. The move comes after temporary airspace restrictions were imposed due to security concerns linked to ongoing geopolitical conflicts in the region.

The country’s aviation regulator, the General Civil Aviation Authority, confirmed that only approved and carefully scheduled commercial flights will operate during this initial phase. Authorities emphasized that passenger safety remains the top priority and that flight approvals are being assessed continuously based on real-time security evaluations.

So far, tens of thousands of stranded passengers have been assisted, with dozens of flights arranged to facilitate repatriation and urgent travel needs. Officials stated that flight frequency is expected to increase gradually if conditions remain stable.

Major UAE-based carriers including Etihad Airways, Emirates, flydubai, and Air Arabia have begun notifying affected passengers directly regarding revised schedules. However, airlines warned that normal operations have not yet fully resumed, and further adjustments may occur depending on the evolving situation.

Travelers are strongly advised not to proceed to airports without official confirmation from their respective airlines. Authorities reiterated that operational decisions remain subject to rapid changes as regional airspace conditions continue to develop.

The phased reopening marks a cautious but significant step toward restoring international connectivity for one of the world’s busiest aviation hubs.
