Shanghai showdown: Can Hamilton fire Ferrari back into the fight?

SHANGHAI, March 12 — Scuderia Ferrari head into the Chinese Grand Prix hoping to return to winning form as Lewis Hamilton looks to lead the team back into contention in the early stages of the 2026 Formula One season.

Ferrari have not won a Formula One race since 2024, and the team has been searching for a breakthrough victory despite showing flashes of strong pace. The return to Shanghai offers both the team and Hamilton a chance to change that narrative and build momentum for the rest of the season.

Strong Start to the Season

Ferrari team principal Frédéric Vasseur acknowledged that the sprint weekend format could make the race particularly challenging for teams still learning the characteristics of the new generation of Formula One cars.
