2026 Bentley Supersports Unveiled as the Most Driver-Focused Continental GT Ever

KUALA LUMPUR, May, 2026 — Bentley Motors has officially revealed the 2026 Bentley Supersports, a radical high-performance version of the Continental GT that abandons electrification in favor of a more engaging, purist driving experience.

Described by Bentley as the “most driver-focused Continental GT ever”, the new Supersports takes a very different approach compared to the hybrid-powered Continental GT Speed. Instead of relying on electrification and all-wheel drive, Bentley stripped the formula back to focus on lightweight engineering, rear-wheel-drive dynamics, and raw driver engagement. Only 500 units will be produced globally, making it one of Bentley’s rarest performance models in recent history.

A Return to Pure Performance

One of the biggest surprises of the new Supersports is Bentley’s decision to remove hybrid technology entirely.

Unlike the latest Continental GT Speed—which uses a plug-in hybrid system—the Supersports returns to a more traditional setup powered solely by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine.

The result is:

  • 666 PS (657 horsepower)
  • 800 Nm of torque
  • Rear-wheel drive (RWD)
  • Eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT)

This makes the 2026 model the first road-going rear-wheel-drive Continental GT in Bentley history, a major shift for a brand long associated with luxury grand tourers and all-wheel-drive stability.

Bentley engineers say the new setup was specifically designed to create a more thrilling and direct connection between driver and machine.

Lighter, Faster, More Aggressive

Weight reduction played a major role in developing the Supersports.

Thanks to the removal of the hybrid system and the use of lightweight materials, Bentley managed to bring the car’s weight below two tonnes, making it the lightest production Continental GT in years.

Performance figures include:

  • 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph): 3.6 seconds
  • Top speed: 310 km/h (192 mph)

While it produces less power than the hybrid Continental GT Speed, the significant reduction in weight gives the Supersports a more agile and responsive character. Analysts describe it as Bentley’s closest answer yet to a track-focused grand tourer.

Track-Inspired Design and Aerodynamics

Visually, the Supersports receives one of the most aggressive styling packages ever fitted to a Bentley road car.

Exterior upgrades include:

  • Large carbon-fiber front splitter
  • Aerodynamic dive planes
  • Wider side sills
  • Rear diffuser
  • Fixed rear spoiler
  • Lightweight carbon-fiber roof

Bentley says the aerodynamic upgrades generate substantially more downforce than the standard Continental GT Speed, improving stability at higher speeds and during aggressive cornering.

The car also rides on 22-inch lightweight forged wheels, paired with high-performance tires and massive carbon-ceramic brakes developed for better stopping power under extreme driving conditions.

A Two-Seat Luxury Cockpit Focused on Driving

Inside, Bentley has transformed the cabin into a more focused driving environment.

The rear seats have been removed entirely, turning the Supersports into a strict two-seater.

Interior highlights include:

  • Lightweight sport seats
  • More aggressive bolstering
  • Premium leather and Alcantara materials
  • Carbon-fiber trim elements
  • Enhanced driver-focused cockpit layout

Despite the aggressive setup, Bentley insists the car still retains the craftsmanship and luxury expected from the brand. Buyers will also be able to extensively personalize the vehicle through Bentley’s customization programs.

Limited to Just 500 Units Worldwide

Exclusivity is another major selling point.

Bentley confirmed that production of the 2026 Supersports will be limited to only 500 individually numbered units globally, making it one of the rarest Continental GT variants ever produced. Orders are expected to attract collectors and performance enthusiasts looking for a unique blend of luxury and extreme driving engagement.

Industry experts believe demand could significantly exceed supply, particularly among luxury car collectors in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

Why the Supersports Matters

The launch of the Supersports signals an interesting direction for Bentley.

At a time when many luxury manufacturers are embracing electrification, Bentley appears to be proving there is still demand for high-performance combustion-powered grand tourers, especially among enthusiasts seeking emotional driving experiences.

Automotive analysts view the model as Bentley’s answer to more driver-focused rivals from brands like Porsche and Ferrari while still maintaining Bentley’s luxury DNA.

The 2026 Bentley Supersports marks a bold return to pure driving excitement, combining a powerful non-hybrid V8 engine, rear-wheel drive, aggressive weight reduction, and ultra-exclusive production numbers.

With only 500 units worldwide, Bentley’s newest grand tourer is expected to become one of the brand’s most desirable modern performance cars for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
