KUALA LUMPUR, AUGUST 2026 – Lotte Chemical Titan Holding Bhd reported a net loss of RM174.2 million for the second quarter ended June 30, 2026, widening slightly from the RM173.08 million loss recorded during the corresponding period last year.
Despite the larger loss, quarterly revenue increased by 116% to RM3.10 billion, compared with RM1.43 billion previously.
The company attributed the RM1.67 billion increase in revenue mainly to contributions from the Lotte Chemical Indonesia New Ethylene project, commonly known as LINE, which began commercial operations in October 2025.
Higher average selling prices during the quarter also supported revenue growth, although the positive impact was partially offset by the weakening of the US dollar against the ringgit.
The group recorded an average plant utilisation rate of 50%, an improvement from 46% in the same quarter a year earlier.
The increase was largely driven by additional production from the LINE facility, which expanded the group’s manufacturing capacity and sales volume.
However, stronger production and revenue were not sufficient to return the company to profitability.
The petrochemical industry continues to face difficult conditions caused by global oversupply, weaker product margins, uncertain demand and volatility in energy and raw-material costs.
Lotte Chemical Titan chairman and chief executive officer Jang Seon Pyo said the company’s operations continued to be affected by geopolitical tensions and wider macroeconomic uncertainty.
These factors have disrupted global supply chains, weakened market sentiment and contributed to fluctuations in crude oil, naphtha and petrochemical selling prices.
