KUALA LUMPUR, AUGUST 2026 — Sun PhuQuoc Airways is strengthening its presence in the Malaysian market as it prepares to launch a new daily non-stop service between Kuala Lumpur and Phu Quoc on September 1, 2026.
Ahead of the launch, the airline and its Malaysian General Sales Agent, Wifadah Travel & Tours, organised a travel-agent seminar in Kuala Lumpur under the theme Phu Quoc – Your Ultimate Escape. The event attracted about 130 representatives from travel companies, agencies and aviation industry partners across Malaysia.
The new route will operate one return flight daily, providing Malaysian travellers with a direct full-service connection to one of Vietnam’s most popular island destinations. Flights from Phu Quoc will depart at 1.45pm and arrive in Kuala Lumpur at 4.20pm, while services from Kuala Lumpur will leave at 5.20pm and arrive in Phu Quoc at 5.55pm, local time.
As a full-service airline, Sun PhuQuoc Airways will include 23kg of checked baggage, light meals and beverages in its fares. Children aged between two and under 12 will be eligible for fares priced at 75% of the applicable adult rate.
Passengers will also experience the airline’s “Resort in the Sky” concept, featuring newer-generation cabins, an exclusive La Festa fragrance and hospitality designed around a five-star service experience.
Travellers departing Kuala Lumpur between July 25, 2026 and January 25, 2027 will also receive a complimentary ticket for the Sun World Hon Thom Cable Car, along with discounts of up to 30% on selected accommodation, dining, spa and entertainment experiences within the Sun Group ecosystem in Phu Quoc.
Sun PhuQuoc Airways and Wifadah Travel & Tours also agreed to expand destination marketing, strengthen distribution channels and develop travel products tailored to Malaysian travellers. The cooperation is aimed at increasing two-way travel demand between Malaysia and Phu Quoc.
The airline also sees Kuala Lumpur as a potential regional connecting hub, helping attract travellers not only from Malaysia but also from nearby markets. Kuala Lumpur will become Sun PhuQuoc Airways’ seventh international destination, following Taipei, Seoul, Hong Kong, Chengdu, Singapore and Bangkok.
As of early August 2026, the airline had expanded its fleet to 17 aircraft and plans to introduce the Airbus A330 into operations from September, supporting further international growth and improved passenger capacity.
The Kuala Lumpur–Phu Quoc route is expected to give Malaysian travellers greater flexibility for short breaks, weekend getaways and longer holidays while strengthening tourism and aviation links between Malaysia and Vietnam.
