Woman Dies, Five Injured in Multi-Vehicle Collision in Tangkak

TANGKAK, El Sky News — A tragic early-morning accident involving five vehicles on Jalan Payamas in Taman Sentosa, Tangkak, left one woman dead and five others injured on Sunday. Authorities confirmed that the collision occurred at approximately 1:58 a.m., prompting an immediate response from emergency services.

The victim, a 56-year-old woman, was a passenger in a Perodua Viva and was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. Five other individuals sustained injuries, ranging from minor to moderate. Among the injured were a 60-year-old woman and a 65-year-old man, also in the Viva, and three passengers from a Perodua Myvi—a 27-year-old woman, a 61-year-old woman, and a 14-year-old boy. The drivers of a Toyota Hiace, Toyota Vios, and Toyota Hilux survived without physical injuries, though one driver reportedly experienced shock following the incident.

The five vehicles involved in the crash were identified as a Perodua Viva, Perodua Myvi, Toyota Hiace, Toyota Vios, and Toyota Hilux. Fire and Rescue Department personnel, including a Fire‑Rescue Tender (FRT) and an EMRS unit, were dispatched to the scene with a team of eight officers to assist with extrication and medical support.

Authorities have confirmed that the body of the deceased has been handed over to local police for further investigation. As of now, the precise cause of the accident remains under review, with officials examining all potential factors, including vehicle malfunction, road conditions, and driver error.

Local residents expressed shock over the accident, highlighting concerns about traffic safety on Jalan Payamas. “This stretch can be dangerous at night, especially with multiple vehicles traveling close together,” said one neighbor, requesting anonymity.

The incident underscores the importance of cautious driving and adherence to road safety measures, particularly in areas with a history of traffic accidents. Police have urged drivers to maintain safe distances, observe speed limits, and remain alert, especially during early morning hours.
