Online Taxi Driver Rapes Passenger: Latest Criminal Case Undermining Public Safety

This latest incident occurred in Indonesia, involving a woman identified by her initials NG (30) who was allegedly raped by an online taxi driver while traveling from Depok to Soekarno-Hatta Airport in the early hours of Saturday, November 22, 2025, around 3:30 AM.

Shocking Chronology of the Incident

According to reports, the victim realized that the perpetrator’s vehicle license plate number did not match the information displayed on the application. The perpetrator then stopped the vehicle around the Kunciran-Cengkareng Toll Road, allegedly claiming he wanted to wash his face.

However, the situation turned violent when the perpetrator suddenly moved to the passenger seat and struck the victim’s neck and head, while threatening her with an object suspected to resemble a firearm. The perpetrator subsequently forced the victim to remove her clothes. After the horrific incident, the victim was dropped off in front of an alley in the Depok area in a traumatized state.

Case Development: Arrest and Evidence Discovery

Following the victim’s report, police authorities immediately launched a search and arrest operation.

• The Arrest: The suspect, identified by his initials FG (49), was successfully apprehended by the police on November 23, 2025, in a rented room in Cilogong, Depok City.
• Drug Discovery: Investigations revealed that the perpetrator possessed a packet of methamphetamine (syabu) in his wallet. The perpetrator admitted to having taken the drug the day before the incident, and a urine test also confirmed he was positive for the illicit substance.
• Weapon: Police also successfully found a pistol hidden under the car seat, further corroborating the victim’s account of the threat.

The perpetrator and the evidence have now been handed over to the Tangerang Kota Metro Police. The Head of the Tangerang Kota Metro Police, Kombes Raden Muhammad Jauhari, confirmed that the perpetrator is detained and will be charged with multiple layered offenses involving rape and drug abuse.

Irene asserted that this incident transcends being merely an individual criminal case. It represents a serious intersection between public safety, the protection of e-hailing application users, and the necessity for stricter and adequate regulation. She also urged the government and law enforcement agencies to provide accompaniment to the victims, not only from a legal perspective but also psychological support to help them recover from the trauma.
