KPM Transforms Primary Schools: ‘Alam dan Manusia’ Revived, Three New Phases Start in 2027

PUTRAJAYA, El Sky News – The Ministry of Education Malaysia (KPM) is taking a major step in transforming the national primary school system with the introduction of the 2027 School Curriculum (KP2027). This transformation will bring two fundamental changes: the reintroduction of the integrated subject ‘Alam dan Manusia’ (Nature and Human) and the redivision of primary school students into three main phases.

This bold move, which will take effect gradually starting with Year One students in the 2027 session, is seen as KPM’s strategic effort to produce a ‘Holistic Individual’ (Insan Sejahtera) capable of competing globally, in line with international benchmarks like TIMSS and PISA.

Alam dan Manusia: A Holistic Knowledge Combination

The new subject, ‘Alam dan Manusia: Integrated Learning,’ will be introduced to students in Phase I (Year 1 & 2). This marks the return of the integrated subject concept that existed previously, but this time with more comprehensive and futuristic content.

This subject is not merely about combining disciplines; it will replace four existing subjects in Phase I: Science, Health Education, Visual Arts Education, and Music Education.

  • Main Focus: The ‘Alam dan Manusia’ subject will integrate elements of Science, Health, Visual Arts, Music, Digital, and TVET (Technical & Vocational). Through this approach, students can see the connection between various fields of knowledge, making learning more meaningful and application-oriented towards real life.

KPM also announced that this subject will be implemented using the ‘Co-Teaching’ method. This method allows teachers from various expertise backgrounds to collaborate in one class, ensuring the effective delivery of this integrated content.
