Government-NGO Synergy is Key to Inclusive Policy: Fadillah Invites Civil Society to Strengthen MADANI Unity

Kuala Lumpur, El Sky News – Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, affirmed that the Government remains steadfast in its commitment to strengthening collaboration with civil society organizations (NGOs) as a critical component in driving national development.

Datuk Seri Fadillah, who is also the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, stressed that constructive engagement between the administration and non-governmental organizations is extremely vital in formulating policies that are not only inclusive and effective but also reflect the true needs of the community at the grassroots level.

“This role as a connector (of NGOs) directly strengthens the policy-making process. When the Government works closely with NGOs that can provide honest feedback, reality-based views, and practical suggestions, we can build policies that have a broader scope, are more effective, and truly reflect the needs of society,” he said.

The statement was made while speaking at the 22nd Anniversary Celebration of the Malaysia Chinese Assembly Hall (MCAH) and the Second Chinese Elite Dragon Award (CEDA) Gala Dinner, in the capital city, last night.

MCAH Reflects MADANI’s Principle of Inclusivity

In his speech, Datuk Seri Fadillah highlighted the significant role of the Malaysia Chinese Assembly Hall (MCAH), which for the past two decades has been a “respected bridge” between the community and policymakers. MCAH reportedly represents nearly 200 Chinese NGOs involved in the fields of education, culture, business, youth development, and social welfare.

He added that MCAH’s efforts in connecting the voice of the community are in line with the Malaysia MADANI framework, which emphasizes noble values such as compassion, inclusivity, and justice in nation-building.

The Deputy Prime Minister also praised MCAH’s cross-ethnic contributions, where programs under the assembly’s auspices have benefited Malaysians from various communities, including Malay, Chinese, Indian, as well as indigenous ethnic groups in Sabah and Sarawak, proving the role of NGOs in promoting unity.

Call for Close Cooperation for Public Trust

Datuk Seri Fadillah expressed his hope that the Government can forge closer cooperation with MCAH and its network of NGOs. This cooperation aims to cultivate stronger unity, strengthen public trust in institutions, and empower communities across the country.

The ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Communications, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, the Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia, Ouyang Yujing, MCAH President, Datuk Seri KK Chai, in addition to diplomats and representatives from approximately 50 Embassies and High Commissions.

Furthermore, the Deputy Prime Minister also presented the CEDA Awards to recipients described as exemplary figures. Among those receiving recognition were the Chairman of the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai, who received the Most Influential Chinese Media Personality Award, and the former Minister of Transport, Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik, who was awarded the Lifetime Excellence Award.
