Ministry of Education Channels Special Aid to Victims of Vehicle Ramming Incident at School Grounds

KUALA LUMPUR, El Sky News– The Ministry of Education Malaysia (KPM) has confirmed the immediate channeling of special financial assistance to students and staff who were victims of the tragic incident where a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) lost control and rammed into the grounds of a National Primary School (SK) in a recent state-level occurrence.

The incident, reported to have happened on the school field or courtyard area, resulted in physical injuries to several students and one school staff member.

Swift Action by KPM and School Authorities

In an official statement released this afternoon, KPM expressed its commitment to the safety and welfare of all school community members.

“The ministry takes this unexpected incident very seriously. Immediately upon receiving the report, the District Education Office (PPD), in collaboration with the school management, swiftly mobilized initial assistance, including ensuring all victims received the necessary medical treatment,” said a ministry spokesperson.

This special financial aid is hoped to alleviate the burden on the victims’ families in covering medical and rehabilitation costs, especially for injuries requiring follow-up treatment.

Focus on Mental Health and Safety Procedure Review

In addition to physical assistance, KPM also stressed the importance of emotional and mental support. Counseling teams from the school and PPD have reportedly been assigned to conduct crisis counseling sessions for the victims, their friends, and teachers affected by the incident.

This incident has once again highlighted the need to tighten Safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on school premises, particularly regarding drop-off zones and vehicle speed limits within the school area.

KPM urges all school managements to:

• Conduct periodic safety audits of the school area layout.
• Install strategic safety barriers in high-risk areas bordering vehicle pathways.
• Clearly define vehicle-prohibited zones and safe pedestrian walkways.

The Ministry also calls upon parents and school authorities to continuously cooperate in ensuring the school environment remains a safe place for the learning process.
