MOE’s three-year transformation bears fruit: 15 major national education reform milestones achieved

PUTRAJAYA, El Sky News – The Ministry of Education (MOE) has made history by recording 15 key achievements in the 2025 Education Reform Achievement Report, the result of a drastic transformation of the national education ecosystem over the past three years.

This continuous effort is seen as a proactive step by the government to build an education system that is more dynamic, inclusive, and capable of facing increasingly complex global challenges.

The Minister of Education, Fadhlina Sidek, stated that despite the short timeframe, various new initiatives have been introduced to ensure no group is marginalized from accessing quality education.

“One of the most significant achievements is the implementation of compulsory education at the secondary level. Now, every Malaysian child is protected by law to seek knowledge at least until the Form Five level,” she explained while commenting on the report.

In addition to strengthening legal aspects, the MOE has shown excellent performance in human resource management, successfully filling over 98 percent of teacher vacancies with the appointment of 52,948 new educators nationwide.

This move is seen as a critical solution to balancing the teacher-student ratio, alongside the implementation of teacher workload reforms aimed at allowing educators to focus fully on classroom instruction.

Other key highlights in the report include:

• 3R Recovery: A total of 398,496 students have successfully mastered the basics of Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic (3R) through empowered intervention programs.
• School Calendar: The decision to return the school session start date to January, which received positive feedback from parents and teachers.
• Safe Schools: The launch of 11 safe school initiatives to guarantee a more conducive and risk-free learning environment.

Fadhlina also emphasized that the ministry will continue to focus on improving school infrastructure, especially in rural areas, to ensure equitable access to education is achieved comprehensively.

“All these achievements are the foundation for a more sustainable future for the country’s education. We want to produce students who are not only academically bright but also individuals with high personal character,” she added.

The 2025 Education Reform Achievement Report serves as an important benchmark in driving the national education agenda to a higher level, in line with the aspirations of Malaysia Madani.
