Show must go on: Nabila Huda defies ‘slip disc’ diagnosis to lead musical theater performance

KUALA LUMPUR, El Sky News – Renowned Malaysian actress Nabila Huda has once again proven her mettle as a true “artist of the stage” after revealing her decision to continue with her theater commitments despite being diagnosed with a severe medical condition.

The award-winning actress was recently diagnosed with a Stage 5 Prolapsed Intervertebral Disc (PID), commonly known as a ‘slip disc,’ specifically at the L5 vertebrae. The diagnosis came following an MRI scan after Nabila experienced intense back pain that left her struggling to even stand.

Despite the clinical findings and the offer of a Medical Certificate (MC) from her doctors, the 40-year-old star made it clear that taking a break was not an option. Nabila, who is currently starring in the highly-anticipated production “Teater Muzikal Masmoona,” stated that her love for the craft and her responsibility to the audience come first.

“A medical certificate (MC) simply doesn’t exist in my dictionary,” Nabila shared during a candid moment on social media. “People have already bought tickets. Who would replace the character of ‘Malam’ at this eleventh hour? No way.”

To manage the four scheduled performances running from December 19 to December 21, Nabila requested the strongest available painkillers from her medical team. She has pledged to undergo full physiotherapy sessions only after the curtain falls on the final show.

Industry peers and fans have lauded her dedication, though many have also expressed concern for her long-term health. Nabila, however, assured her supporters that she is managing the pain and is determined to deliver a world-class performance for those who have supported the arts.

The “Teater Muzikal Masmoona” cast also features notable talents such as Fadhli Masoot and Danial Zaini. As the production opens this weekend, all eyes are on Nabila Huda, whose resilience and “the show must go on” attitude continue to set a high bar for professionalism in the Malaysian entertainment industry.
