PAS Prepared to Lead Perikatan Nasional as Bersatu Accepts Muhyiddin’s Resignation

SHAH ALAM, El Sky News – The Malaysian political landscape is set for a major shift as the Supreme Leadership Council (MPT) of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has formally accepted Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s decision to step down as Chairman of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition.

In light of this leadership transition, PAS has expressed its readiness to take the helm of the coalition as it prepares for the 16th General Election (GE16).

Leadership Transition Confirmed

The decision followed a closed-door meeting held by Bersatu’s top leadership on Monday night. During the session, Muhyiddin provided a detailed explanation regarding his decision to relinquish his role as the coalition’s chairman.

PAS Information Chief, Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, lauded the move as a positive development for the coalition’s future. “Alhamdulillah, this is a very good decision from the Bersatu MPT meeting to openly accept Tan Sri Muhyiddin’s desire to step down,” he stated via a Facebook post on Tuesday.

PAS Ready to Take the Lead

With Muhyiddin moving aside, PAS is positioning itself to steer the coalition toward Putrajaya. Ahmad Fadhli emphasized that the leadership change is a crucial step in refining PN’s strategic direction ahead of GE16.

“God willing, PN will move forward. Give PAS the opportunity to lead Perikatan Nasional as we face GE16. We shall rise and march toward Putrajaya,” he added, signaling a new era of dominance for the Islamic party within the opposition bloc.

Strategic Realignment for GE16

The transition marks a pivotal moment for Perikatan Nasional, which has relied heavily on the alliance between Bersatu and PAS. Political analysts suggest that a PAS-led coalition could result in a more conservative campaign strategy, focusing on its traditional strongholds while attempting to expand its influence nationwide.

As Bersatu undergoes this internal restructuring, all eyes will be on how the two parties manage the power dynamic to ensure the coalition remains a formidable challenger to the current administration
