Rising Muay Thai Boxer Passes Away Following Tragic Road Accident in Gua Musang

KUALA LUMPUR – A 20-year-old Muay Thai athlete has tragically lost his life in a horrific road accident after being struck by a pickup truck while jogging along Jalan Gua Musang–Sungai Terah on Wednesday evening.

The victim, identified as Mohamad Nabil Mohamad, was jogging with a friend at approximately 6:05 PM when a pickup truck traveling from Sungai Terah toward Gua Musang reportedly lost control. The vehicle veered onto the shoulder of the road, striking Nabil with such force that he was thrown 40 meters from the point of impact.

District Police Chief Superintendent Sik Choon Foo confirmed that Nabil succumbed to severe injuries at the scene. “The collision caused the victim to be flung a significant distance, while the pickup truck involved overturned on the roadside,” Sik stated in an official release.

Fortunately, Nabil’s jogging companion escaped with only minor injuries. The 33-year-old driver of the pickup truck and his passenger sustained injuries and were rushed to Gua Musang Hospital for emergency treatment.

Authorities have classified the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which pertains to causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. The victim’s body has been sent to the hospital’s forensic unit for an autopsy.

The police are currently appealing for any eyewitnesses or individuals with dashcam footage of the incident to step forward and assist with the ongoing investigation. (Kayla Shabirah)
