Cili Kampung Acquires 50% Stake in Dotty’s Pastries in RM24 Million Strategic Merger

KUALA LUMPUR – In a move set to redefine Malaysia’s “Modern Malay” lifestyle dining segment, Cili Kampung Malaysia, a leader in authentic Malay cuisine, has officially acquired a 50% equity stake in the renowned artisanal brand, Dotty’s Pastries & Coffee.

The strategic partnership, formalized during a signing ceremony at Ruang Rama Event Space on Wednesday, values the Dotty’s entity at approximately RM23.9 million. This collaboration merges Cili Kampung’s expertise in traditional hospitality and operational scaling with Dotty’s decade-long legacy in artisanal baking.

Strategic Investment and Expansion

As part of the agreement, Cili Kampung has subscribed to 11,956,234 new shares. Furthermore, both parties have pledged a combined RM5 million toward a joint venture specifically earmarked for:

  • Market Expansion: Transitioning Dotty’s from a boutique icon into a national powerhouse.
  • Infrastructure Modernization: Enhancing operational systems to support rapid growth.
  • Flagship Relaunch: A comprehensive makeover of Dotty’s premier outlet at Suria KLCC.

A Powerhouse Synergy

The merger is designed to capitalize on the unique strengths of both brands. Dotty’s brings to the table its JAKIM Halal-certified central kitchen and a strong following in the premium café-hopping demographic. Conversely, Cili Kampung provides the “operational DNA,” supply chain efficiency, and the aggressive growth model that has seen its own rapid expansion across major Malaysian malls.

“Our acquisition of a 50% stake is a deliberate move to institutionalize a brand that has defined the all-day dining experience for a decade,” said Khairul Anwar Datuk Sri Abdul Azeez, Director of Cili Kampung Malaysia. “By combining our operational strengths, we are creating a powerhouse that will redefine the hospitality landscape in Malaysia and beyond.”

Preserving Artisanal Roots

Despite the shift toward a more scalable model, the founders emphasized that the core identity of Dotty’s will remain intact. Nadia Nasimuddin, founder of Dotty’s Pastries & Coffee, noted that the partnership is built on a shared commitment to excellence.

“We are preserving the artisanal ‘warmth’ that our customers love while building a future that is sustainable and expansive,” Nadia stated, adding that the merger marks a pivotal milestone as Dotty’s enters its tenth year of operations.

Market Impact

The alliance positions the group to capture a larger share of the Food & Beverage market by appealing to both traditional diners seeking “kampung” comfort food and contemporary consumers looking for high-quality artisanal pastries.

With Cili Kampung’s presence in locations like Sunway Pyramid and 1 Utama, and Dotty’s established reputation in KLCC and Putrajaya, the newly formed “Malay Vertical” powerhouse is poised for significant domestic and potentially regional growth.
