Mas Ermieyati Resigns as Bersatu’s Srikandi Chief to Pave Way for New Leadership

KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin has officially announced her resignation as the Chief of Srikandi, the women’s wing of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), effective immediately.

The Member of Parliament for Masjid Tanah made the announcement today, citing the need for leadership renewal within the party’s ranks. Her decision marks a significant shift in the internal dynamics of Bersatu as it navigates its current political trajectory.

Focus on Transition

In her statement, Mas Ermieyati emphasized that the move was made in the best interest of the party. She noted that stepping down would allow “fresh blood” to lead the wing and bring new perspectives to Srikandi.

“This decision is about ensuring the continuity and strength of the party. I believe it is the right time to give others the opportunity to lead and contribute to Srikandi’s growth,” she said.

Remaining Committed to the Party

Despite vacating the top post in the women’s wing, Mas Ermieyati clarified that she is not leaving the party. She remains a loyal member of Bersatu and will continue to serve in her other capacities, including:

  • Member of Parliament: Continuing her service to the constituents of Masjid Tanah.
  • Central Leadership: Maintaining her roles and responsibilities at the party’s national level.

Political Context

The resignation comes at a time when Bersatu is reportedly looking into restructuring and strengthening its organizational hierarchy. Analysts suggest that this move could trigger a series of leadership transitions within the wing as the party prepares for future political challenges.

As of now, the Bersatu Supreme Council has yet to name an acting chief or a permanent successor for the Srikandi leadership role.
