A. Aida Embraces Hijab Once More, Fulfilling a Vow Made in Critical Care

KUALA LUMPUR – Renowned Malaysian film and television producer, Datuk A. Aida, has captured the hearts of netizens after sharing photos of herself back in a hijab, marking a significant personal milestone in her spiritual journey.

The producer, whose real name is Zaidah Awang, took to Instagram to reveal her new look, clarifying that the decision was made entirely of her own volition. In a brief but firm caption, she stated, “Wearing the hijab is not because of others, but because of the heart.”

A Promise Made in the ICU

The transformation appears to be deeply rooted in a personal trial she faced late last year. In November 2025, A. Aida was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after collapsing during a physiotherapy session.

According to her recent social media interactions, the decision to return to the hijab was a vow she made to Dr. Mohd Izhar Ariff while she was recovering from that critical health scare. She shared that the promise she made to the Ustaz (religious scholar) stayed at the forefront of her mind the moment she regained consciousness in the hospital.

Gratitude and Spiritual Growth

In her post, A. Aida expressed her deep appreciation for those who supported her during her time of illness.

“The promise to Ustaz kept playing in my mind after I woke up in the ICU. Thank you, Ustaz, may Allah protect us all,” she wrote in the comment section.

The announcement has been met with a wave of support from fans and industry peers alike, many of whom have offered prayers for her continued steadfastness (istiqamah) in her new journey.
