15 Sabah Bersatu Youth Leaders Resign Over Internal Turmoil

KUALA LUMPUR – A significant wave of resignations has hit the Sabah chapter of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) as 15 key leaders from its youth wing, Armada, announced their immediate departure from the party.

The mass exodus was led by Sabah Bersatu Youth Chief, Mohd Hisyam Hazaril Mohd Azman, who also held the position of Beaufort Youth Chief. The group includes prominent figures from various divisions across the state, including Tuaran, Sepanggar, Pensiangan, Keningau, Papar, Tawau, Putatan, and Beluran.

Reasons for the Split

In a statement released on Monday night, Mohd Hisyam cited a deep-seated disappointment with the party’s current direction. The primary drivers for the resignation include:

• Escalating Internal Conflict: The leaders expressed frustration over “worsening internal turmoil” that they claim has tarnished the party’s public image.
• Toxic Political Culture: The group criticized the trend of open attacks among the top leadership, which they believe undermines the confidence of the grassroots and the general public.
• Selective Discipline: Concerns were raised regarding inconsistent disciplinary actions and “selective dismissals” when dealing with differing opinions within the party ranks.

A Message of Change

“We are deeply disappointed to see the internal conflicts dragging on to the point of damaging the party’s reputation,” Mohd Hisyam stated. He emphasized that the move is a clear signal that young leaders in Sabah are rejecting “divisive politics.”

Despite leaving Bersatu, the group maintained that they remain committed to championing the agenda of the youth and focusing on the future development of both the state and the nation.

The resignations take effect immediately, marking a notable shift in the political landscape for the youth wing in Sabah as the party continues to navigate its internal challenges.
