Anwar: Egypt to Facilitate Delivery of Malaysian Humanitarian Aid to Gaza

KUALA LUMPUR — Egypt has pledged full cooperation to facilitate the delivery of Malaysia’s humanitarian aid to Gaza, following discussions between Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

The commitment will allow approximately 374 tonnes of humanitarian aid from Malaysia to be delivered through the Rafah border crossing starting in April.

Aid to Reach Over 100,000 People

According to Anwar, the agreement is expected to ensure that urgently needed supplies reach more than 100,000 Palestinians in Gaza, many of whom are facing severe humanitarian conditions.

The Malaysian leader said the assurance from Egypt would significantly improve logistics and speed up aid distribution to those in need.

Strong Political Commitment

Anwar stressed that Malaysia remains firm in its humanitarian stance and will not be deterred by obstacles, particularly those linked to ongoing restrictions affecting aid delivery into Gaza.

He emphasized that Malaysia will continue to stand “as a principled and dignified voice” in defending the rights of oppressed communities, especially amid growing global criticism over humanitarian access.

Rafah Crossing as Key Lifeline

The Rafah crossing, controlled by Egypt, remains a critical entry point for humanitarian aid into Gaza. The cooperation between Malaysia and Egypt is expected to play a crucial role in ensuring smoother access amid ongoing regional tensions.

Outlook

With Egypt’s assurance, Malaysia’s humanitarian mission is set to gain momentum in April, offering hope for faster and more efficient aid delivery to Gaza. The move also reinforces Malaysia’s continued support for Palestine on the international stage.
