KUALA LUMPUR – Nurul Izzah Anwar has officially dismissed claims that she is resigning from her position as the Deputy President of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).
The former Member of Parliament for Permatang Pauh issued a statement late Monday night to address viral social media speculation regarding her supposed departure from the party’s leadership.
In her statement, Nurul Izzah clarified that there have been no changes to the party’s leadership structure and that she remains committed to the mandate given to her by the members.
“I continue to fulfill this trust in accordance with the responsibilities and party processes. There is no change in the leadership structure,” she said. “I encourage the public not to be influenced by unverified information and to always refer to official party statements for authentic information.”
The rumors surfaced on social media platforms recently, triggering various reactions from party members and political observers.
Nurul Izzah, the daughter of PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, was elected as the Deputy President for the 2025–2028 term during last year’s party elections. She secured the position after a head-to-head contest against the incumbent, Datuk Seri Mohd Rafizi Ramli.
Her victory was seen as a significant consolidation of leadership within the party, and her swift dismissal of these resignation rumors aims to stabilize any internal uncertainty caused by the speculation.
