Four Men Charged With Murder of 70-Year-Old Man in Hilir Perak Machete Attack

KUALA LUMPUR,MAY,2026 – Four men were formally charged at the Teluk Intan Magistrate’s Court in connection with the murder of a 70-year-old man who was fatally attacked with a machete during an incident in Hilir Perak last month.

The accused were identified as S. R. C. Parkash Rao, M. V. Aligeswaran, T. Tiagesan, and K. Shanker, all aged 25. The four men reportedly nodded in understanding after the murder charge was read before Magistrate Naidatul Athirah Azman.

However, no plea was recorded because murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of Malaysia’s High Court.

Victim Allegedly Killed During Gang Robbery

According to the charge sheet, the four accused allegedly acted together with another suspect who is still at large to murder N. Jeyagoby, aged 70.

The incident allegedly occurred at a residence located at No. 110, Lorong Emas L2/1, Pekan Baru, Hilir Perak, between 6am and 6.30am on April 17, 2026.

Earlier reports indicated that the elderly victim died after being attacked with a sharp weapon believed to be a machete during what authorities suspect was a gang robbery at the home.

The violent nature of the attack reportedly caused serious injuries that led to the victim’s death at the scene.

Murder Charge Filed Under Section 302

The case was brought under Section 302 of the Malaysian Penal Code, read together with Section 34 for acting with common intention.

Under Malaysian law, the offence carries the death penalty or imprisonment of up to 40 years. Offenders who are not sentenced to death may also face no fewer than 12 strokes of the cane upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Nur Darwis Aghniya Halim Azizi handled the prosecution during the court proceedings.

None of the accused were represented by lawyers during the hearing.

No Bail Offered as Suspect Remains at Large

Because the case involves a murder charge under Section 302, no bail was offered to the accused.

Authorities also confirmed that another individual linked to the case remains at large, and investigations are still ongoing to locate the suspect.

Police are believed to be continuing efforts to gather additional evidence, witness statements, and forensic findings related to the fatal attack.

The court later fixed July 13, 2026, for the next case mention.

Public Concern Over Violent Crimes Involving Elderly Victims

The case has generated public concern due to the violent nature of the attack and the age of the victim.

Residents in Hilir Perak have reportedly expressed shock over the killing, especially as the incident allegedly occurred during the early morning hours in a residential neighborhood.

Crime analysts note that attacks involving elderly victims often draw stronger public reactions because of the vulnerability of senior citizens during violent crimes and robberies.

The incident has also renewed discussions regarding community safety, neighborhood surveillance, and crime prevention measures in residential areas across Malaysia.

Police Continue Investigation

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the murder, including the suspected robbery motive and the involvement of additional individuals.

Police are expected to present further evidence as the case progresses toward High Court proceedings in the coming months.

For now, the four accused remain in custody while investigators continue tracking the remaining suspect connected to the fatal machete attack.
