New BYD Atto 3 Receives 1,000 Bookings in Malaysia Within 10 Days

KUALA LUMPUR, June 2026 — The newly updated 2026 BYD Atto 3 has received 1,000 bookings in Malaysia within just 10 days of its launch, highlighting strong local demand for the electric SUV.

BYD Sime Motors announced the milestone after the facelifted Atto 3 made its Malaysian debut, with the company celebrating the 1,000th customer at a special event held at BYD Bandar Utama over the weekend.

The achievement reflects the continued popularity of the Atto 3 in Malaysia’s electric vehicle market, where the model has remained one of the most recognised and widely accepted EVs since its local introduction in 2022.

According to BYD Sime Motors, the Atto 3 has recorded more than 12,000 units sold in Malaysia to date, reinforcing its position as one of the country’s most successful electric vehicles.

For the 2026 facelift, Malaysian buyers appear to show stronger interest in the new Premium RWD variant, which introduces a rear-wheel-drive configuration and improved performance compared with the existing front-wheel-drive setup.

The 2026 BYD Atto 3 is offered in two variants in Malaysia: the Ultra FWD and the Premium RWD. The Ultra FWD is priced from RM125,800, while the Premium RWD is priced from RM138,800.

The Ultra FWD continues with a single electric motor producing 150 kW and 310 Nm of torque, enabling the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. It also retains a 60.48 kWh battery, offering up to 420 km of WLTP-rated range.

One of the key improvements for the Ultra FWD is faster DC charging capability, which has been increased to 110 kW from the previous 88 kW. This allows the battery to charge from 30 percent to 80 percent in about 30 minutes.

The Premium RWD brings more significant upgrades, including a rear-mounted electric motor producing 230 kW and 380 Nm of torque. This gives the model a quicker 0 to 100 km/h time of 5.5 seconds.

The Premium variant also receives a larger 74.88 kWh battery, offering up to 600 km of NEDC-rated range or an estimated 510 km under the WLTP cycle. It also supports DC fast charging of up to 220 kW and 11 kW AC charging.

In terms of design, the 2026 BYD Atto 3 facelift gets refreshed styling with updated bumpers, redesigned rear lights and a cleaner exterior appearance. The cabin has also been updated with a revised dashboard, new steering wheel, minimalist centre console and column-mounted gear selector.

The Premium RWD variant adds more practicality with a larger boot capacity and a 101-litre front trunk, giving owners more storage flexibility for daily use and longer trips.

BYD Malaysia Managing Director Jacob Ma said the positive response shows that Malaysian drivers are increasingly looking for vehicles that combine technology, convenience and daily usability.

Sime Motors Malaysia Retail and Distribution Managing Director Vi Thim Juan also encouraged customers to visit authorised BYD showrooms nationwide to experience the new Atto 3 and join the growing BYD community.

The strong booking performance is expected to further strengthen BYD’s position in Malaysia’s fast-growing EV market, especially as more buyers consider electric SUVs with longer driving range, faster charging and improved technology.

With the new Premium RWD variant leading interest, the 2026 BYD Atto 3 facelift could continue to be one of the key EV models driving electric vehicle adoption in Malaysia.
