Casemiro Set for Inter Miami Move After Manchester United Exit

KUALA LUMPUR, June 2026 — Brazilian midfielder Casemiro is reportedly close to completing a move to Inter Miami, where he is expected to link up with Lionel Messi in Major League Soccer.

According to reports, Inter Miami have reached a verbal agreement to sign the former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder on a free transfer. The deal is said to be in its final stages, with only contract signing and the official announcement still pending.

Casemiro is expected to leave Manchester United following the expiry of his contract at the end of the 2025-26 season, bringing an end to his spell at Old Trafford.

The 34-year-old had previously been linked with several clubs, including a possible move to Saudi Arabia and a potential reunion with Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr. However, reports suggest Casemiro has chosen Inter Miami as his preferred destination.

The move would see Casemiro play alongside Messi, one of his biggest rivals during his years at Real Madrid. The two players spent many seasons facing each other in El Clasico, with Casemiro often tasked with stopping Messi during Barcelona’s battles against Real Madrid.

Now, they could become teammates in Miami, adding another major name to Inter Miami’s growing list of high-profile international stars.

Inter Miami already have strong global attention due to Messi’s presence, and the arrival of Casemiro would further strengthen the club’s profile both on and off the pitch.

For Casemiro, the move represents a new chapter after years of success in European football. He won major honours with Real Madrid, including multiple UEFA Champions League titles, before joining Manchester United in 2022.

Although his time in England had mixed moments, Casemiro remained an experienced figure in midfield and continued to be recognised for his defensive quality, leadership and winning mentality.

The transfer is also significant for MLS, as the league continues to attract established international players with strong global reputations.

However, the move has reportedly faced complications due to MLS discovery rights. LA Galaxy were previously reported to hold Casemiro’s discovery rights, meaning Inter Miami may need to resolve the issue before officially registering the player.

Despite that, reports indicate the matter is not expected to stop the transfer from going through.

Casemiro is currently focused on Brazil’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign, having featured in the team’s opening matches. His Inter Miami debut is expected to depend on how far Brazil progress in the tournament and how much rest he takes after international duty.

If completed, the deal would become one of the biggest MLS transfer stories of the year, bringing together two former El Clasico rivals in the same team.

For Inter Miami, Casemiro’s arrival would add defensive balance, experience and leadership to a squad already built around world-class attacking talent.

For fans, the move offers a fresh storyline: one of Messi’s toughest former opponents now preparing to play beside him in the United States.
