Oregeon MBPJ International Tower Run 2026 Showcases Petaling Jaya’s Sporting Spirit with Soh Wai Ching and Datuk Mohamad Zahri Samingon

KUALA LUMPUR, June, 2026 — The Petaling Jaya International Tower Run 2026 concluded today at Menara MBPJ, marking another major step in the city’s effort to strengthen its identity as a hub for tower running in Malaysia.

The event, held at Menara MBPJ in Jalan Tengah, Seksyen 52, brought together local runners, fitness enthusiasts, competitive athletes and members of the public for a high-energy vertical running challenge.

The tower run was organised in conjunction with Petaling Jaya’s 20th city anniversary celebration, adding stronger community meaning to the sporting event.

World No.1 tower runner Soh Wai Ching was among the main figures linked to the event, continuing his role in promoting tower running and inspiring more Malaysians to take part in the niche but fast-growing sport.

Wai Ching’s presence added strong sporting value to the event, as he is widely recognised as one of Malaysia’s most successful tower running athletes and a leading ambassador for the discipline.

His involvement also reflected MBPJ’s broader ambition to position Petaling Jaya as a key centre for tower running development, not only through competitions but also through training, workshops and public engagement.

Petaling Jaya Mayor Datuk Mohamad Zahri Samingon was also part of the official programme, underlining MBPJ’s support for sports, community wellness and healthy lifestyle initiatives.

The event carried a strong civic message, combining competitive sport with Petaling Jaya’s wider city celebration. It was not only about speed and endurance, but also about community participation, urban identity and active living.

Participants had to take on the physical challenge of climbing Menara MBPJ, a route known for testing stamina, leg strength and mental discipline. Unlike regular road running, tower running requires athletes to maintain rhythm, breathing control and explosive endurance while moving upward through staircases.

For many participants, completing the MBPJ Tower Run was already a personal achievement. For competitive runners, the event served as a platform to test performance and gain recognition in Malaysia’s growing vertical running scene.

The 2026 edition also strengthened the relationship between MBPJ, the Malaysia Towerrunning Association and the wider sporting community.

With Soh Wai Ching continuing to represent Petaling Jaya as a tower running icon, the event is expected to inspire more young athletes to explore the sport professionally.

MBPJ’s continued commitment to tower running also reflects the city’s effort to promote Petaling Jaya as a healthy, active and sustainable urban community.

The event’s conclusion today showed that tower running is gaining stronger visibility in Malaysia, especially when supported by world-class athletes, local authorities and community-based participation.

As Petaling Jaya celebrates two decades as a city, the Petaling Jaya International Tower Run 2026 stands as one of the key events connecting sports, civic pride and community wellness.

With its successful staging, Menara MBPJ continues to hold symbolic value as one of the important venues for tower running in Malaysia.
