KUALA LUMPUR, June 2026 — Pakatan Harapan has officially announced its full list of 56 candidates for the upcoming Johor state election, marking a major step in the coalition’s campaign strategy ahead of nomination and polling day.
The candidate list was announced by PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the coalition’s candidate announcement ceremony at Bukit Gambir Extreme Park in Gambir, Tangkak. The event reportedly drew more than 3,500 people, reflecting strong public and party interest in the Johor election.
One of the biggest names on the list is former education minister Maszlee Malik, who will contest the Puteri Wangsa state seat under the PKR ticket. His candidacy is expected to draw attention because Puteri Wangsa is considered one of the more closely watched seats in the election.
Another key candidate is former Johor state legislative assembly speaker Suhaizan Kayat, who is also Johor Parti Amanah Negara vice-chairman and Pulai MP. He has been named as PH’s candidate for the Larkin state seat.
The list also includes two former Johor state executive councillors. PKR’s Mohd Khuzzan Abu Bakar will return to contest Semerah, while Amanah’s Dzulkefly Ahmad will represent PH in Kota Iskandar.
PH is also fielding several women newcomers, including Nor Zulaila Abd Ghani in Tiram, Felicia Poh Rui Ling in Penggaram, Ayna Soraya Badaruddin in Sungai Balang, Elia Nadira Sabudin in Tenang and Teo Siew Hui in Permas.
Anwar said the coalition’s candidates were selected from a pool of about 1,000 eligible names submitted by PKR, DAP and Amanah. He said the final list combines experienced political figures and new faces, giving PH a stronger balance heading into the election.
The prime minister also said all 56 candidates are Johoreans who understand local issues and the needs of the people. He urged the candidates and party machinery to work hard to win in the upcoming state election.
For this election, PH is fielding 20 PKR candidates, 19 Amanah candidates and 17 DAP candidates. The distribution reflects the coalition’s internal seat-sharing arrangement among its three main component parties.
The Election Commission has fixed nomination day for Saturday, June 27, while early voting will take place on July 7 and polling day on July 11.
