Here We Go! André Onana Set to Rejoin Trabzonspor on Loan from Manchester United

KUALA LUMPUR, JUNE 2026— André Onana is set to rejoin Trabzonspor on loan from Manchester United after transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the move with his famous “Here We Go” update.

The Cameroonian goalkeeper has reportedly agreed to return to the Turkish club, with the new loan deal verbally agreed until June 2027. The move marks another major step in Manchester United’s ongoing squad reshuffle as the club continues to make changes ahead of the new season.

According to reports, the agreement between Manchester United and Trabzonspor does not include a buy option, meaning Onana is expected to return to Old Trafford once the loan spell ends unless both clubs negotiate a future permanent arrangement.

Onana previously spent time on loan at Trabzonspor after falling out of favour at Manchester United. During his spell in Turkey, he managed to regain confidence and became an important figure for Trabzonspor, making regular appearances and helping the club compete strongly in domestic competition.

His return to Trabzonspor now suggests that Manchester United are ready to move forward with a different goalkeeping plan. Onana’s position at Old Trafford has been under pressure following inconsistent performances since his arrival from Inter Milan in 2023.

Manchester United signed Onana for a major fee after his impressive spell with Inter Milan, where he reached the UEFA Champions League final. However, his time in England was filled with heavy scrutiny, especially after several high-profile mistakes in domestic and European matches.

Despite winning the FA Cup during his first season with Manchester United, Onana struggled to fully convince fans and critics that he could become the club’s long-term No.1 goalkeeper.

The latest loan move to Trabzonspor could give Onana another opportunity to play regular football, rebuild his form and continue his career in a league where he has already gained valuable experience.

For Trabzonspor, bringing Onana back is seen as an important move to strengthen their squad. The Turkish side are believed to value his experience, shot-stopping ability and leadership at the back.

For Manchester United, the deal also gives the club more flexibility in the transfer market as they continue to restructure their squad and reduce uncertainty around the goalkeeping department.

While the final official announcement from the clubs is still expected, Romano’s “Here We Go” confirmation strongly indicates that the move is already agreed and entering its final stage.

Onana’s return to Trabzonspor now becomes one of the notable goalkeeper transfer stories of the summer window, especially as Manchester United continue to rebuild under a new sporting direction.
