Democrats Lead Fundraising in Key 2026 Senate Races as Republicans Retain Major Cash Reserves

KUALA LUMPUR, JULY 2026 – Democratic candidates have outpaced their Republican opponents in fundraising across several closely watched United States Senate races, according to the latest campaign finance reports submitted to the Federal Election Commission.

The figures show Democratic contenders posting significant second-quarter fundraising advantages in Texas, Georgia, Ohio and Alaska. However, Republicans continue to benefit from large cash reserves held by party committees and major political action groups, leaving both parties financially equipped for an expensive midterm campaign.

In Texas, Democratic candidate James Talarico raised more than Republican candidate Ken Paxton by over US$26 million during the reporting period. Talarico’s second-quarter total set a new fundraising record for a Texas Senate candidate.

Talarico has raised nearly US$69 million throughout the election cycle and retained more than US$21 million for future campaign spending. Paxton, who serves as the Texas attorney general, raised approximately US$2.2 million during the quarter and reported around US$1.8 million in available cash.

Outside groups are also investing in the Texas contest. Lone Star Rising, a super PAC supporting Talarico, raised US$12.7 million during the quarter, with much of the funding coming from LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman. A super PAC supporting Paxton raised approximately US$4.3 million but reported only about US$35,000 in remaining cash.

Democrats also recorded major fundraising advantages in other battlegrounds. Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff raised almost 10 times as much as Republican challenger Mike Collins, while former Ohio senator Sherrod Brown raised approximately US$10 million more than Republican Senator Jon Husted.

In Alaska, Democrat Mary Peltola raised nearly US$5 million more than Republican Senator Dan Sullivan. Sullivan, however, spent less than US$1 million during the quarter and retained more than US$8 million, placing him approximately US$1 million ahead of Peltola in available campaign funds.
