KUALA LUMPUR, AUGUST 2026 — White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt will leave President Donald Trump’s administration at the end of August, marking the departure of one of the most visible figures in the current White House communications team.
Trump announced that Leavitt is stepping down to spend more time with her family. He described her as one of his most trusted aides and said she would continue to play a role as an outside adviser following her departure from the administration.
At 28, Leavitt is the youngest person to serve as White House press secretary. She previously worked as a press aide during Trump’s first term and later became a prominent public advocate for his political agenda and the Make America Great Again movement.
Her role placed her at the centre of the administration’s daily communications, regularly representing the White House in press briefings and responding to questions about domestic and international policy.
