Oregeon Tower Run 2026 Brings High-Speed Vertical Racing to Tribeca Serviced Hotel Kuala Lumpur

KUALA LUMPUR, JULY 2026 — The Oregeon Tower Run 2026 brought Malaysia’s growing vertical-running community to Tribeca Serviced Hotel in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, July 19, challenging participants to race through the building’s emergency staircase toward the finishing level.

The event required runners to conquer 37 floors, 796 steps and approximately 140 metres of elevation gain, creating a demanding test of speed, endurance and stair-climbing technique. Participants began arriving from 7am, while the official flag-off was scheduled for 7.30am.

Malaysia’s world-leading towerrunner Soh Wai Ching emerged as the men’s winner after completing the climb in three minutes and 37 seconds. His performance established a new course record for the Tribeca Serviced Hotel route.

The race attracted competitive and elite vertical athletes, with the Malaysia Towerrunning Association publishing a dedicated elite start list before the event. Elite runners were scheduled to begin their challenge at 7.30am.

Several competition categories were offered, including Men Open and Women Open, allowing runners from different backgrounds to participate in the urban endurance challenge. The organisers also announced a total prize pool of up to RM3,900.

Unlike conventional road races, towerrunning requires competitors to maintain their pace while continuously climbing enclosed staircases. The steep ascent places significant demands on cardiovascular endurance, leg strength, breathing control and the ability to navigate landings efficiently.

The Tribeca race formed part of the wider Oregeon Tower Run Malaysia Series, a nationwide programme designed to expand competitive towerrunning across several Malaysian states between 2026 and 2027.

Venues announced under the series include Kuantan 188 Tower, Menara MBPJ, Tribeca Serviced Hotel, The Top Komtar Tower, Menara Affin, Tun Mustapha Tower, R&F Princess Cove, Hikmah Exchange and Maha Tower in Langkawi.

Oregeon Academy Sdn Bhd serves as the series’ main organiser and commercial partner, while the Malaysia Towerrunning Association acts as its technical and sports-sanctioning partner. The association is responsible for areas including race operations, athlete coordination, technical compliance and safety standards.

The nationwide initiative comes as Malaysia continues to strengthen its international standing in the sport. The country was ranked fourth in the Towerrunning World Association’s national rankings released in May 2026, behind Japan, China and Poland.

Soh remains one of the central figures in Malaysia’s rise within global towerrunning. His victory and record-breaking performance at Tribeca demonstrated the level of elite talent competing alongside the sport’s expanding local community.

The event also highlighted how hotels, office buildings and urban landmarks can be transformed into competitive sporting venues, providing athletes with a distinctive alternative to traditional road running.

With more races planned across the country, the Oregeon Tower Run Malaysia Series is expected to create additional opportunities for professional athletes, emerging runners and members of the public to participate in vertical racing.
