Range Rover GT Previewed as Brand’s Most Car-Like Electric Grand Tourer Yet

KUALA LUMPUR, JULY 2026 – Range Rover has officially previewed the Range Rover GT, an upcoming electric grand tourer that represents a significant expansion beyond the conventional luxury SUV formula traditionally associated with the brand.

Announced on July 22, 2026, the Range Rover GT will become the fifth member of the Range Rover family. The company describes the model as a new interpretation of the grand tourer concept, combining long-distance comfort, effortless performance and traditional Range Rover capability.

Although the vehicle remains partially concealed under a specially designed camouflage wrap, the initial preview reveals a lower and sleeker profile than existing Range Rover models. Its flowing roofline, sculpted body and coupé-like proportions are intended to give the GT a more car-like appearance while preserving a commanding road presence.

Range Rover has described it as the most car-like model the company has ever created. However, the brand continues to position the vehicle as a capable grand tourer rather than a complete departure from its heritage, promising the versatility and confidence expected from a Range Rover.

The Range Rover GT will initially feature a fully electric powertrain. The company has not yet disclosed key specifications such as battery capacity, driving range, power output, acceleration or charging speed.

Its development reflects Range Rover’s broader transition towards electrification as luxury vehicle manufacturers respond to growing demand for quieter, more efficient and technologically advanced models.

The cabin introduces a minimalist approach centred on comfort and reduced visual clutter. Early images show a large central infotainment display, a slim digital driver interface and a clean dashboard with fewer visible controls.

Rear passengers are also expected to receive a highly luxurious environment, with a four-seat configuration, generous legroom and a dedicated central control screen. The interior has been designed to create a calm and sophisticated atmosphere suited to long-distance travel.

Prototype vehicles are currently completing their final global testing programme. The camouflage applied to the development models has been designed to highlight rather than completely hide the GT’s distinctive silhouette and proportions.

The vehicle is expected to offer refined electric performance with near-silent operation, responsive acceleration and a smooth driving experience. Range Rover says further information about the model will be released later in 2026.

The introduction of the Range Rover GT marks an important step for the brand as it expands into a different category of luxury vehicles. Instead of focusing exclusively on upright SUVs, the company is exploring a more streamlined grand-touring format that prioritises road comfort, elegant styling and long-distance performance.

Despite the new direction, Range Rover intends to preserve the design sophistication, premium craftsmanship and broad capability that have defined its vehicles for decades.
