Selangor Travel Fair 2026 Draws Over 50,000 Visitors, Generates RM150,000 in Sales

KUALA LUMPUR, AUGUST 2026 – Selangor Travel Fair 2026 recorded a strong turnout after attracting more than 50,000 visitors during its two-day event at Central Market Kuala Lumpur on July 25 and 26.

The fair also generated more than RM150,000 in sales, highlighting continued public interest in Selangor’s travel products, tourism packages and attractions.

The visitor turnout exceeded the earlier expectation of more than 40,000 people, making this year’s edition one of the major tourism promotional events supporting the Visit Selangor Year 2026 campaign.

The event brought together 40 tourism exhibitors, double the number recorded at the previous edition.

Participating businesses represented a wide range of tourism segments including theme parks, ecotourism, agritourism, heritage attractions, gastronomy, hospitality and recreational activities.

Visitors were offered special travel packages and promotions while also being introduced to a broader selection of destinations and experiences available throughout Selangor.

The fair served as a one-stop platform connecting travellers with tourism operators, hotels, attractions and other industry partners.

Selangor State Executive Councillor for Local Government and Tourism Datuk Ng Suee Lim said the event played an important role in strengthening tourism promotion and reinforcing Selangor’s position as Malaysia’s most visited state.

The state is targeting nine million tourist arrivals under the Visit Selangor Year 2026 campaign.

Selangor Travel Fair 2026 also coincided with Tourism Selangor’s 25th anniversary.

The agency celebrated its Silver Jubilee under the theme “Silver in Motion,” reflecting its development over the past quarter-century and its continued efforts to build a more competitive and sustainable tourism industry.

Tourism Selangor chief executive officer Chua Yee Ling said the organisation has spent the past 25 years working with industry players and strategic partners to develop tourism products, organise major events and strengthen Selangor’s profile among domestic and international travellers.

The fair also featured cultural performances, traditional music, creative workshops, videography sessions, interactive tourism activities and live podcasts.

Free health screenings were also provided as part of the medical tourism segment, while several local performers entertained visitors throughout the event.

Another highlight was the launch of the Selangor Sketch-Stop book, produced through a collaboration between Tourism Selangor and local illustrators Ann Jaafar, Baihaqi Ismail and Ichie Imran.

The event also introduced the new Surprising Selangor Kan Ada theme song and music video, created to commemorate Tourism Selangor’s 25th anniversary.

Tourism continues to play an important role in Selangor’s economy.

The state recorded 36.4 million domestic visitors in 2025, representing a 5.5% increase from 34.5 million in 2024 and retaining its position as Malaysia’s most visited state.

Selangor also recorded a gross domestic product of RM460.1 billion in 2025, accounting for 26.5% of Malaysia’s economy, with tourism remaining an important contributor to growth in the services sector.

The continued Visit Selangor Year 2026 campaign is expected to support Malaysia’s wider tourism push under Visit Malaysia 2026.

Tourism authorities are aiming to maintain momentum through high-impact events, destination promotions and partnerships with airlines, hotels, attractions and tourism operators.
