Ukrainian Drone Campaign Targets Wildberries Again as Strike Hits Russia’s Urals

KUALA LUMPUR, AUGUST 2026 – Russia’s largest e-commerce company, Wildberries, has reported another drone attack on one of its logistics centres after a strike triggered a fire at a warehouse in Yekaterinburg, the latest incident in what appears to be a sustained Ukrainian campaign against the retailer’s infrastructure.

The attack occurred in the Ural region, approximately 1,400 kilometres east of Moscow, significantly beyond the front lines of the war.

According to Wildberries, the fire was quickly brought under control, and the majority of stored goods were not damaged despite the incident.

Regional Governor Denis Pasler said Russian air defence systems intercepted eight drones during the overnight attack.

However, three of the drones reportedly crashed onto the roof of the logistics facility, causing a fire that required emergency response teams to contain.

No fatalities were reported in the latest strike, although authorities continued assessing the extent of structural damage to the warehouse.

Emergency crews remained at the scene to inspect the building and ensure operations could resume safely.

The Yekaterinburg incident is part of a broader series of Ukrainian drone attacks that have increasingly targeted Wildberries since mid-July.

According to reports, at least 20 warehouses belonging to the company have been attacked during the campaign, making the retailer one of the most frequently targeted civilian-linked businesses inside Russia.

Wildberries is Russia’s largest online marketplace and plays a major role in the country’s domestic retail and logistics sectors.

The company operates an extensive nationwide warehouse network supporting millions of deliveries each day.

Reuters reported that Ukraine’s strategy appears aimed at increasing the economic costs of the war for Russia by disrupting major logistics networks and affecting everyday commercial activity.

The repeated attacks have reportedly damaged or destroyed more than one-fifth of Wildberries’ warehouse storage capacity.

The disruption has affected thousands of merchants who rely on the platform to distribute products across Russia, with many reporting declining sales and operational difficulties.

Wildberries has denied allegations that it supplies equipment directly to the Russian military.

Russian authorities have also rejected suggestions that the company is part of the country’s defence logistics network.

Nevertheless, Ukrainian officials have increasingly expanded long-range drone operations targeting infrastructure considered economically significant to Russia.

Recent operations have included attacks on logistics centres, oil refineries, fuel depots and industrial facilities located hundreds of kilometres from the Ukrainian border.

The campaign reflects Ukraine’s broader effort to weaken Russia’s wartime economy while demonstrating its growing capability to conduct deep strikes inside Russian territory.

Long-range drone attacks have become an increasingly important component of Ukraine’s military strategy since the conflict intensified.

Russia has continued to strengthen air defence systems around strategic industrial and logistics facilities in response to the expanding drone campaign.

However, repeated incidents suggest that key infrastructure remains vulnerable despite increased defensive measures.
