Selangor Targets 9 Million Tourists for Visit Selangor Year 2026

KUALA LUMPUR, AUGUST 2026 — Selangor is targeting nine million tourists during Visit Selangor Year 2026, building on the momentum achieved through the state’s tourism initiatives in 2025.

Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the state government, through Tourism Selangor, is strengthening promotional activities for both domestic and international markets. Key campaigns include “Surprising Selangor,” “Selangor Kan Ada!” and “Liburan Sehat Ya di Selangor Aja!”

Amirudin said Selangor has remained the most visited state in Malaysia for five consecutive years since 2021, reflecting continued cooperation across the state’s tourism ecosystem.

In 2025, Selangor recorded 36.4 million domestic visitors, representing a 5.5% increase from the previous year. The strong tourism performance has also contributed to the state’s broader economic growth.

Selangor remains Malaysia’s largest contributor to the national economy, recording a gross domestic product of RM460.1 billion, equivalent to 26.5% of Malaysia’s overall economy.

Tourism Selangor is also strengthening industry recognition through the Selangor State Tourism Awards 2026, which features 26 award categories covering excellence and innovation across the tourism sector.

Among the categories are Best Integrated Resort & Theme Park Destination, International Tourism Partnership Award and Selangor Cruise Tourism Excellence Award. The initiative aims to recognise tourism players that contribute to strengthening Selangor’s profile locally and internationally.

With Visit Selangor Year 2026 underway, the state aims to attract more travellers while positioning Selangor as a major tourism gateway for Malaysia and the wider ASEAN region.
