Limbang Year Five Pupil Abner Dominggo Collin Wins Gold at TeenEagle Global Final 2026 in UK

KUALA LUMPUR, AUGUST 2026 — A Year Five pupil from Limbang, Sarawak, has achieved international recognition after winning gold at the TeenEagle Global Final 2026 in the United Kingdom.

Abner Dominggo Collin, a pupil of SK St Edmund Limbang, secured the Overall Gold Medal Award at the global competition held from Aug 2 to 9, 2026. He also won a Silver Medal Award for Productive Skills, marking a major milestone in his young academic journey.

Abner’s success in the United Kingdom was the culmination of a strong performance throughout the TeenEagle competition pathway.

Before reaching the global final, he won a gold medal at the National Qualifying Round in the primary school TE1 category, held from April 3 to 5.

He continued his winning streak at the Regional Round, held at the British International School Kuala Lumpur on May 2 and 3, where he secured another gold medal.

His progression from national qualifier to regional champion and finally international gold medallist reflects a consistent level of preparation and performance across several stages of the competition.

SK St Edmund headmaster Anthony Upe described the achievement as a proud moment not only for the school but also for Sarawak and Malaysia.

He said Abner’s journey demonstrated that pupils from areas such as Limbang are capable of competing confidently with students from around the world.

The headmaster also viewed the achievement as an inspiration for other pupils at the school, encouraging them to develop confidence and set ambitious goals regardless of where they come from.

Coordinating teacher Jemima Tuah attributed Abner’s performance to his commitment, discipline and consistent hard work.

According to the school, Abner focused not only on improving his English-language abilities but also on strengthening critical thinking and confidence, skills that play an important role in TeenEagle’s competition format.

Jemima also highlighted the role played by Abner’s parents and teachers, whose continued encouragement supported him throughout the preparation and competition process.

TeenEagle is an annual international competition originating from the United Kingdom and recognised by NOCN, with participants from more than 60 countries.

Unlike conventional English examinations focused mainly on grammar, the competition evaluates a wider range of skills.

Participants may be assessed in areas including literature, media, critical thinking, spelling, creative writing, persuasive speaking and the Interactive IMPACT Project.

The wider format is designed to test how students understand, communicate and apply language skills rather than relying solely on classroom-based knowledge.

The 2026 UK Global Final brought together students from various countries, giving young participants the opportunity to compete in an international educational environment.

Other reports on the event indicate that the UK final was held in London and attracted hundreds of students from countries across Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America, further highlighting the scale of the competition.

For Abner, competing successfully at this level represents a significant achievement given the wide international field.
