KUALA LUMPUR, AUGUST 2026 — Two Bersatu assemblymen have announced their support for Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail until the 16th state election, citing the need to preserve political stability and protect the interests of the people.
The two representatives are Kuala Sentul assemblyman Datuk Jasri Jamaludin and Lepar assemblyman Mohd Yazid Mohd Yunus. In a joint statement, they said the decision was made after taking into account the political situation in Pahang and the welfare of residents in their constituencies.
They said the position had also been agreed upon by Bersatu’s party leadership, with stability in the state considered an important factor in ensuring development programmes and public services can continue without disruption.
Jasri and Yazid said they had reached an understanding with Wan Rosdy that greater attention would be given to development and community welfare in Kuala Sentul and Lepar.
Both assemblymen also pledged to continue carrying out their responsibilities and cooperate with the state administration to safeguard development, welfare and the broader interests of the people of Pahang.
Pahang’s state legislative assembly has 42 seats. The state government is formed by Barisan Nasional, which holds 17 seats — 16 from Umno and one from MIC — together with Pakatan Harapan, which has eight seats.
Perikatan Nasional also holds 17 seats in the assembly, comprising 15 PAS representatives and two Bersatu representatives. The latest decision by the two Bersatu assemblymen therefore adds a new political dimension to the balance of support in the state legislature ahead of the next state election.
