Viral Snack Foodtrucks Dominate Malaysia’s Street Food Scene Throughout 2025

KUALA LUMPUR, El Sky News — Viral snack foodtrucks have emerged as one of Malaysia’s strongest culinary trends throughout early to mid-2025. Popular items such as mochi donuts, cheese bombs, and takoyaki continue to attract large crowds across night markets, food festivals, and youth-centered locations nationwide.

Although no specific launch date is recorded, the trend became widely noticeable as foodtruck operators reported a significant rise in customer demand for so-called “viral snacks” foods frequently seen in TikTok and Instagram Reels videos.

Among the top favorites, mochi donuts stand out for their chewy texture and premium toppings, including matcha, Nutella, and powdered sugar. Cheese bombs have also gained massive traction thanks to their molten cheese filling, often featured in dramatic “cheese pull” videos that spread rapidly on social media.

Meanwhile, takoyaki has made a strong comeback after several foodtrucks introduced creative fusion flavors such as spicy mala, carbonara, and cheese volcano. These unique variations sparked a wave of reviews, taste-test videos, and viral challenges among content creators.

Foodtruck operators note that demand has climbed sharply, with some reporting up to a 70% increase in sales during the first six months of 2025. Many have begun rotating new “viral” menu items every month to keep up with fast-changing customer preferences and the impact of social-media-driven marketing.

F&B industry observers predict that the viral snack wave will continue throughout the year, driven by three major factors: affordable pricing, visually engaging presentation for social media, and unique flavors that resonate with younger consumers
