Tragic Discovery: 8-Year-Old Boy Found Dead Inside Abandoned Car in Labuan

Labuan – An eight-year-old boy was found dead inside a car that had been abandoned in an industrial area in Kampung Muslim, Labuan, on the morning of November 22, 2025.

The discovery was made when a mechanic, attempting to move the vehicle, noticed a strong foul odor coming from inside. The car, identified as a Proton Gen‑2, had reportedly been left at a nearby workshop since June 2025.

The boy has been identified as Budin Jimsalim, a member of the Bajau community, who apparently did not have any identification documents. His body was sent to the Forensic Unit at Labuan Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

At this stage, the cause of death remains undetermined pending the autopsy results. Authorities have reported no clear signs of foul play, and the case has been classified as sudden death. Police investigators are gathering witness statements and reviewing nearby CCTV footage to better understand the circumstances.

Officials have urged the public to come forward with any relevant information to assist the investigation. In addition, they reminded parents and guardians to remain vigilant regarding their children’s movements, especially for those who may leave home unattended or have special needs.
