Two Men Injured After Container Air Conditioning Unit Explodes in Pasir Gudang

KUALA LUMPUR – Two men sustained burns to their faces and bodies following the explosion of an air conditioning unit inside a container at Tanjung Puteri Resort, Pasir Gudang, on Monday afternoon.

The Johor State Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Center received an emergency call regarding the incident at 4:51 PM. A team of six personnel from the Pasir Gudang Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) arrived at the scene approximately 11 minutes later.

Quick Response and Casualties

According to a statement released by the operations center early this morning, the blast involved an air conditioning unit and affected two local men, aged 20 and 50.

“Upon arrival, the Operations Response Team (PKO) found that there had been an explosion involving a container’s air conditioning unit, injuring two adult males,” the statement confirmed.

Fortunately, the small fire resulting from the explosion was successfully extinguished by individuals at the scene using a dry powder fire extinguisher before the fire department arrived.

Medical Attention and Investigation

Both victims were immediately rushed to Sultan Ismail Hospital (HSI) for further medical treatment. Their current condition has not been specified, though the burns were reported to be on significant parts of their bodies.

The firefighting team, equipped with a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT), conducted a final inspection to ensure the area was safe. The operation was officially concluded at 5:14 PM. Authorities are expected to investigate the exact cause of the explosion.
