Missing Woman Found Dead in Rented Home; Boyfriend Discovered in Critical Condition

KUALA LUMPUR – A 41-year-old supermarket employee, who had been unreachable for three days, was discovered dead in her rented house in Taman Damai early Thursday morning. Police believe she was murdered by her boyfriend.

The discovery was made around 12:30 AM after police, accompanied by the victim’s family and the house owner, raided the double-storey terrace home. The victim’s family had grown increasingly concerned after multiple failed attempts to contact her since earlier in the week.

A Chilling Discovery Batu Pahat District Police Chief, ACP Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani, stated that the Fire and Rescue Department had to be called in to break open the front door, which was locked from the inside.

Upon entering, authorities found the woman lifeless on a bed. Lying next to her was a 44-year-old local man, identified as her boyfriend, who was in critical condition with severe slash wounds to his neck and wrists.

“Initial investigations suggest that the man committed the crime resulting in the victim’s death before attempting to take his own life by inflicting self-harm,” ACP Shahrulanuar said in a statement.

Investigation and Legal Action The male suspect was immediately rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment and remains under heavy police guard. Police have obtained a seven-day remand order against the suspect, effective from Friday until next Thursday, to facilitate a thorough investigation.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which carries the death penalty or imprisonment of up to 40 years if convicted.

While a motive has yet to be established, police are looking into the couple’s relationship history and recent activities. A post-mortem examination of the victim is being conducted at the Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital to determine the exact cause of death.
