Fatal Morning Collision Near Bukit Beruntung Claims One Life, Leaves Two Injured

KUALA LUMPUR – A tragic multi-vehicle accident disrupted the morning commute on the North-South Expressway (PLUS) today, resulting in the death of a woman and leaving two others with varying degrees of injury.

The collision, which involved a heavy-duty trailer, a Honda City, and a BMW, occurred at approximately 7:40 AM at KM 443.2 of the southbound route, not far from the Bukit Beruntung exit.

According to Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, the Assistant Director of Operations for the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), emergency calls prompted an immediate dispatch of 15 personnel and specialized equipment from the Rawang Fire and Rescue Station. The first responders arrived at the scene by 7:41 AM to find the wreckage of the three vehicles blocking portions of the highway.

Initial reports indicate that the most severe impact was sustained by the Honda City. A female passenger in her 50s was trapped within the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries. Medical officers from the Ministry of Health (MOH) pronounced her dead at the scene shortly after her extrication. The driver of the Honda, a man also in his 50s, survived the ordeal with minor injuries but was visibly shaken by the incident.

The driver of the lori trailer, which was transporting a heavy load of lime, sustained critical head injuries during the crash. The man, believed to be in his 40s, was stabilized at the site before being rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency surgery. Meanwhile, the driver of the BMW, a 30-year-old man, managed to escape the collision entirely unscathed.

“Our teams worked quickly to secure the site and ensure no further hazards were present, especially given the nature of the trailer’s cargo,” Ahmad Mukhlis stated in a press release.

Following the rescue operation, the deceased was handed over to the police for transport to a forensic department for a post-mortem examination. The remaining injured victims are currently receiving treatment under the care of the Ministry of Health.

The accident caused significant traffic congestion stretching several kilometers as authorities worked to clear the debris and the heavy trailer from the lanes. While the road has since been reopened, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) have launched a formal investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash and whether mechanical failure or weather conditions played a role.
