UKM to Pursue Disciplinary and Legal Action Following Auditor-General’s Report Findings

KUALA LUMPUR – Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) has announced it will take disciplinary and legal action based on the results of a full investigation following the Auditor-General’s Report (LKAN) 1/2026.

The report, which was presented in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday, highlighted serious irregularities and governance breaches within the university. Specifically, the audit detected non-compliance with laws and financial regulations concerning student fee collections and university expenditures.

In an official statement, UKM confirmed that it is currently conducting a thorough review to reform and strengthen its existing systems. The university emphasized that all actions will be carried out in accordance with the principle of “due process.”

“UKM has already initiated comprehensive internal improvement measures. As such, it is premature to provide further details at this time out of respect for the ongoing investigative process,” the statement read.

The university management reiterated its commitment to upholding integrity and transparency in its financial management to ensure such irregularities do not recur in the future.
