Schumer Accuses Trump of Lying Over Iranian School Bombing Fatalities

KUALA LUMPUR – U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has publicly accused President Donald Trump of “lying” regarding a devastating explosion at an Iranian girls’ school that claimed the lives of over 160 students.

The incident occurred on February 28 at the Shajarah Tayyebeh school in Minab, Hormozgan province, during the initial wave of U.S.-Israeli military operations against Iran. Reports from Iranian media suggest the death toll could be as high as 175, making it the deadliest single event since the conflict began.

Contradicting Claims

President Trump has repeatedly attributed the tragedy to Iran, claiming the country accidentally bombed its own school due to “inaccurate munitions.” However, Schumer and several independent analysts have challenged this narrative.

Early investigations, supported by satellite imagery and expert assessments, indicate the destruction was likely caused by a U.S.-made Tomahawk cruise missile. The missile was reportedly launched during a strike aimed at a nearby Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) base.

“Donald Trump Lied”

In a pointed statement released on the social media platform X, Schumer dismissed the President’s allegations as baseless and shameful.

“Donald Trump lied,” Schumer wrote. “No other leader in the Administration—not even Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth—is claiming Iranian Tomahawk missiles were responsible for the bombing that killed 170 people at an Iranian all-girls’ school.”

Schumer noted that even high-ranking Pentagon officials have refrained from blaming Iran, stating instead that official investigations are still ongoing and that the strike “might” have been carried out by U.S. forces.

Calls for Accountability

The Senate Minority Leader is now demanding a “full, independent, and transparent investigation” to determine the true source of the strike and ensure those responsible are held accountable.

While the Pentagon has yet to release a final report, the total destruction of the school building, as shown in satellite photos, has sparked international outcry over the mounting civilian cost of the Middle East conflict.
