KUALA PILAH, March 27 — Police in Negeri Sembilan have opened an investigation after the body of a newborn baby was discovered near a mosque in Kuala Pilah, in a case that has shocked residents in the surrounding community.
According to authorities, the infant’s body was found near a telecommunications substation close to Masjid Rembang Panas in Kuala Pilah. Police were alerted to the discovery and immediately dispatched officers from the Kuala Pilah District Police Headquarters along with a forensic team to the scene to conduct an initial investigation.
Preliminary checks carried out at the location revealed that the baby was a fully formed male infant, and the umbilical cord was still attached when the body was discovered. Further examination suggested that the baby had likely died around two days earlier before being found and had already begun to decompose.
Police said that a physical inspection of the infant did not reveal any visible external injuries at the scene. However, authorities emphasised that the exact cause of death has yet to be determined and will be established following a detailed post-mortem examination.
The baby’s body has since been sent to Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital for further forensic analysis. Investigators are working to gather evidence and identify individuals who may be connected to the case.
Authorities confirmed that the case is currently being investigated under Section 318 of the Malaysian Penal Code, which relates to the concealment of birth by secretly disposing of the body of a child. Under the law, individuals found guilty of the offence could face imprisonment or fines if convicted.
