KPDN Issues Stern Warning: Zero Tolerance for Fuel Subsidy Misappropriation

KUALA LUMPUR – The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has issued a high-level warning against individuals and syndicates attempting to exploit national subsidies. Amidst global geopolitical tensions, the ministry emphasized that any form of subsidy leakage or misappropriation will be met with “uncompromising enforcement.”

Datuk Azman Adam, KPDN’s Director-General of Enforcement, characterized the act of diverting national subsidies as a “betrayal of the country and its citizens.” He confirmed that the ministry has mobilized 2,400 enforcement officers nationwide to conduct rigorous inspections and field monitoring.

To fortify Malaysia’s borders and supply chains, KPDN is intensifying its strategic collaboration with the Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM). This initiative, operating under OPS TIRIS 4.0, aims to eliminate loopholes that lead to the smuggling and illegal sale of controlled items.

A significant policy shift is set to take effect on April 1, 2026. KPDN will strictly enforce the ban on the sale of subsidized RON95 petrol to foreign-registered vehicles.

Additionally, new regulations regarding the sale of diesel will be implemented for land transport vehicles across:

  • Sabah
  • Sarawak
  • Federal Territory of Labuan

These measures are designed to ensure that the benefits of government-funded energy remains exclusively for eligible Malaysian citizens and local industries.

The ministry also called upon the public to participate in the KITA GEMPUR (Movement to Eradicate Manipulation and Leakage). Datuk Azman Adam stressed that safeguarding the nation’s energy supply is a collective responsibility.

“Our aggressive strategy is designed to anticipate potential global fuel supply disruptions. We must ensure that essential goods remain stable and accessible to the people despite the current Middle East crisis,” said Datuk Azman.

KPDN encourages consumers and businesses to report any suspicious activities or price manipulations through the following official channels:
